As the year draws to a close at TOTEM, we’ve once again begun to reflect on the year gone by and some of its standout moments. Not just for us as an agency, but for our clients too.

Over the past month, many of our clients have been participating in an exciting new research project with us – the results of which we will be publishing on the blog early in the New Year. As part of our interviews with them, they shared their top moments from the year gone by. Below is a selection of what they had to say…

1. Acorn regulatory winning a Clonmel Chamber award.

“Winning at the Clonmel Chamber awards for the third year in a row is our standout moment. Competitors such as MSD, Boston Scientific are there and so we didn’t anticipate winning again this year. But as it turns out we won best SME, best social media and digital and best service provider for three years running!” – Brian Cleary

We’ve been working with Brian and the team at Acorn Regulatory for a few years and helped them refresh their brand back in 2017 creating a new tagline, brand story, website and messaging. It’s amazing to see how this team go from strength to strength, year in and out.

2. Cork Airport winning coveted spider award

“Our highlight in 2019 was to win the Best Business-to-Consumer Award at the 2019 Spider Awards, Ireland’s most prestigious digital awards ceremony. The award was for Cork Airport’s most recent drive to increase brand awareness and maximise bookings through its digital marketing campaign ‘Love Taking Off’.” – Kevin Cullinane

In late 2018, TOTEM began working with the Cork Airport team to refresh their brand and positioning, which culminated in the launch of their new tagline and campaign ‘Love Taking Off’ earlier this year. It’s amazing to see the team recognised for their incredible work on this. You can read about our partnership with Cork Airport here.

3. Griffith College hosting a new alumni workshop

“One of our standout moments was our alumni workshop business event in Cork, it was the first time we carried out an event like this outside of Dublin. It was a highlight of the year in terms of the quality of the speakers, the interaction – we’re excited about taking more steps into this Alumni community space.”– Steven Roberts and Lara Cozzo

TOTEM has been working with Griffith College since 2018 and are delighted to have the opportunity to support what is Ireland’s largest independent third level institution, in communicating their brand online.

4. Horizon8 officially launches in Europe

“The standout moment was definitely our European launch event. There was a huge amount of work that went on throughout the year that all came together for that event. I’m very proud of many things, of ourselves but also the people that we have worked with and the community here in Cork also, it’s very exciting“ – Patrick Horgan

When HengTian approach TOTEM this year to rename their brand for the new US and European arm of their technology company – we couldn’t wait to get started. We couldn’t be prouder to be there to see the team officially launch Horizon8 and its new brand identity. You can read about our partnership with Horizon8 here.

5. Local link's making a difference every day.

“I met a passenger at an event recently who was 92. He uses Local Link every day. He was in good health and very grateful of our service. That invigorates you because you’re working in an industry that is worthwhile and providing a much-needed service.” – Maureen Cournane

We were delighted to work with Maureen and the National Transport Authority team this year to create a collection of vintage inspired posters that would fuel the imagination, inspire adventure and promote their Local Link network that connects rural areas around Ireland.

6. Onionsack getting green light for US expansion.

“Our standout moment was getting the green light to launch into the United States. It’s the market everyone is interested in but it’s a market that’s been the most difficult to get anywhere near for international firms. The law in that area has changed now and we’re looking forward to launching and leveraging this new business to grow further.” – Jonathan Power

Onionsack have been pioneering conversational commerce since 2006. Totem were delighted to work with them last year to understand their core brand essence and create a new brand identity. We couldn’t be more excited to watch this company’s global expansion.

7. Trivium Vet featuring in the Wall Street Journal.

“A real stand out moment for the business was our interview with The Wallstreet Journal. Our CEO, Louise Grubb made this happen through her networks and due to the innovative product that we’re working on which is seen as a game changer in the sector.” – Liam Byrne

At TOTEM, we’re so excited to be working with this Waterford Start up, that is developing drugs and other medical devices to treat chronic diseases in companion animals like dogs, cats or horses. This brand will one to watch in 2020 and beyond!

8. Cross Electrical becoming contractor of choice

“One of our standout moments was when we tendered for a job during the year which we had no connection to. We were selected and it was later confirmed that we were picked based on our quality of work and portfolio. It’s a big job and proves that what we’re trying to achieve is working. Offering top quality service and now becoming known for it.” – Tom Murphy

We gave you a sneak peak at the end of last year of the new brand identity, tagline and logo we developed for Cross Electrical. We were thrilled to see it go fully live earlier this year and to see their continued recognition in their industry for offering outstanding service. You can read about our partnership with Cross Electrical here.

9. Suir Engineering securing top Scandinavian deal.

“A standout moment this year has been winning the confidence of a new customer in Scandinavia. Suir Engineering have been appointed this contract for the next five years – a very proud moment.” – David Phelan

Suir Engineering is a leading provider of electrical and mechanical installation services, delivering tailored cutting-edge solutions. We have supported the team for a number of years and are delighted to see them continue to succeed by delivering a better experience.

10. Cork Chamber honouring past presidents.

“The standout moment of 2019 was our Cork Chamber Founders Dinner. It was a way of honouring our past presidents and celebrating the past 200 years. And the atmosphere at the event was just brilliant. We also launched a book on the night, ‘Championing Cork’ the Chamber’s 200-year history written by Councillor Kieran McCarthy which was a fabulous milestone for Cork Chamber.” – Thomas McHugh

11. And don't forget the hosts of the night...

“Trigon Hotels hosted and sponsored the Cork Chamber 200 Dinner at The Metropole Hotel Cork. We were very heavily involved from the theme, look and feel to the food concept and the Trigon Hotels brand was front and center. It was my proudest business moment of 2019.” – Ray Kelleher

We supported both the Cork Chamber and the Trigon Hotel Group though a process of repositioning their brands last year, to better communicate their essence with clarity. We were delighted to see both brands working together to make this hugely successful event a reality.

And finally, we’d just like to say a huge thank you to all our clients who’ve made this a very meaningful and inspiring year for the team here at TOTEM. We’re looking forward to working with you again in 2020 and sharing some exciting new research and insights with you early in the New Year.
