LYRATH ESTATE HOTEL

THE CHALLENGE

Lyrath Estate Hotel & Spa is a destination resort in the environs of historic Kilkenny city. Set in 170 acres of parkland, complete with picturesque lakes and gardens, Lyrath Estate is a country resort hotel steeped in luxury, sophistication and style.

TOTEM was required to give the branding a refresh and to bring consistency into the design across the hotel and spa’s brochures and marketing materials.

THE SOLUTION

The previous Lyrath Estate identity had become outdated with superfluous flourishes and gradients, all housed within a cumbersome oval. We distilled the identity down to it’s core elements of the oak tree and the name Lyrath Estate, combined with new typography, to create a contemporary and confident new identity for the hotel. Similar treatments were also applied to the Oasis Spa and Convention Centre identities.

We then established a new look and feel for all the hotel’s brochures and marketing materials. Typographically this was done with the stylish and elegant Trajan typeface for headings, combined with clean white backgrounds and warm grey borders to create a style that suggested luxury, sophistication and heritage.

Choosing the right imagery was essential in the design of both the wedding and spa brochures. For the Oasis Spa brochure we selected a suite of imagery that represented the beautiful 170 acres of parkland that surrounds the hotel and distinguishes the Oasis Spa experience. It also connects the reader to the refreshing and natural feeling of the spa treatments on offer.

A visit to Lyrath Estate is a luxury and premium experience, and so a Gift Card wallet was designed with this in mind. An elegant stamp featuring the letters LE of the name was created, and formed into a repeat pattern that fills the top half of the wallet’s front. In the centre, one of the stamps stands out in gold with a spot UV to add some shine and sparkle.

In addition to these items, we also created stationary, family guides and advertising. We have also designed menus for the two restaurants in the hotel, which we then supplied in an editable format so the client could edit the content on an ongoing basis, whilst keeping the design consistent.
