Enduring Hospitality, Elegantly Reimagined

Tannery

The Tannery is one of Ireland’s longest established, independently owned restaurants and a beacon of hospitality since opening in 1997. Owners Paul and Máire Flynn decided it was time to revitalise their brand identity and website – to solidify their place as an iconic Irish dining destination, while also maintaining the renowned charm and elegance of their family business.

Simplify

The starting point for the project was understanding both the essence and personality of the business and how they translated to the experience customers get dining or staying at the Tannery.

As one of Ireland’s longest-established independent restaurants, the Tannery is renowned for its exceptional dining, stylish accommodation, and warm hospitality. Our challenge was clear – make their brand identity and website more contemporary while retaining the charm and sophistication they’ve embodied since 1997.

Create

Firstly, TOTEM created a classic but contemporary word mark that is elegant, refined, confident and is reflective of the stylish experience the Tannery offers. With the addition of a simple descriptor, it works across their three business pillars – exceptional dining, chic accommodation, and an event venue.

Secondly, our goal in designing the new website was to provide a user-friendly experience. TOTEM revamped the website’s structure and made the navigation more intuitive. From browsing the menu to booking a table or room, every step of the user journey was considered and enhanced.

A rich colour palette of dark green and gold is balanced by a generous amount of white space, enhancing the confident and minimalist design. This allows the Tannery’s exquisite pictures come to the fore and tell their story, showcasing the authentic charm of this family run business.

Empower

TOTEM worked with the Tannery team to ensure the Content Management System (CMS) on the new website was customised to their needs, and also integrated three independent, mission critical booking systems – for tables, rooms, and events. The CMS has a clear intuitive structure so that the team can easily make daily updates and monitor bookings.

The new identity and website combine to position the Tannery perfectly as a premium, original experience in Ireland’s hospitality sector, whilst also capturing their warm and welcoming personality.
